Guest Services and Sales Position

Terracentric Coastal Adventures delivers world class tours to hundreds of clients each year between May and September. Located in beautiful Lund, BC Terracentric specializes in offering small group/private guided adventure tours that connect our guests to the awe-inspiring natural environment of British Columbia’s west coast. By boat, kayak and on foot (hiking) our local highly experienced guides share the stories of the region, allowing our guests to discover, witness, and learn about this place we call home. We also offer accommodations at our premium vacation home, Sunlund RV Park & Cabins and programming at an outdoor learning facility to expand the overall experiences offered by Terracentric.
We are looking for someone who is passionate about outdoor recreation & tourism in Lund and that can demonstrate a high standard of customer-focused engagement by providing them with opportunity to experience what we have here while maintain and organized and efficient storefront / office.
Overall Purpose of the Job
Reporting to the Operations Manager this position is an integral role in the business operations. This position will provide high quality customer service and engagement, sales & office managerial experience.
Primary Responsibilities
- Customer Engagement: in person, phone and emails, social media channels. Ensure all inquiries get complete information about all products offered in the location in a timely manner
- Manage bookings and reservations made through the office as well as through the online booking engine. Utilize systems to ensure reservations information is disseminated to our staff team and organized within the office setting
- Sales: Engaging with customers, other hospitality partners, utilizing and coordinating social media channels in preseason and ongoing throughout primary season to boost and create sales opportunities.
- Overseeing the work of any other team members in the office.
- Ensure that pre & post trip client and company paperwork is completed
- Act as an emergence response centre if Operations Manager is not available, in the case of tour emergencies.
Secondary Responsibilities
- Assist Operations Manager in office systems improvements & contribute to company operational best practices & procedures
- Inventory management, procurement and retail sales
- Assist Operations Manager with marketing and promotional planning
- Generating sales reports, seasonal tour & client statistics
- Ensuring that invoices, statements, cash reconciliation and related financial information relevant to bookkeeping is appropriately filed for pick up

- Able to multi-task efficiently, prioritizing tasks, during peak season when volume of online, phone and in person interactions are high
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft office, MAC platform, using scheduling software, social media platforms and simple website editing
- Strong work ethic and dedication to the success and growth of the company
- Excellent critical thinking, judgment, and decision-making skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with a clear understanding of organizational behaviours, experience with other cultures and compassion for cultural diversity
- Must be self-motivated, able to work independently or with a team, with great attention to detail
- Flexible in approach and willing to learn and adapt to new systems
- Willing to participate in all areas of the business if needed
- Must be reliable and willing and able to commit to all scheduled shifts
- Foreign language skills (and asset, especially German & Dutch) an asset
- Knowledge of, experience in, passion for or interest in our local area and coastal outdoor activities, including kayaking, boating, hiking & local flora and fauna with an emphasis on our local marine environment and our local history
- Knowledge of local & regional amenities and offerings in the tourism and hospitality sector
- Must be willing to commit to minimum of two seasons of employment with an interest in stable long term employment
Qualifications
- Driver’s License with reliable vehicle
- Standard First Aid with CPR C
- Restricted Operators Certificate for VHF (can be aquired)
- A degree or Diploma in Recreation Management, Outdoor Recreation or Tourism or related experience

Period of Employment & Compensation
Full time 30 – 40 hours / week April 1 to October 15 with part time off season work averaging ~20 hours / month
Salary range is $24 - $30 / hour based on experience and qualifications.
Preference is given to those who can commit to a minimum of 2+ seasons of employment.
